What’s the Agenda of The Old Watchman?

First, we have no agenda. We have a plan and purpose. That plan is to fulfill the purpose God has for our lives. What is that purpose?

As we work to present a web site to fulfill our purpose, I sit, praying for direction and guidance. I realized that I had not as yet written out the purpose in a manner that most people would grasp. That simply would not do. Proverbs 16:9 comes to mind. “The mind of a man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.” That’s wisdom. So, I pray that Holy Spirit would remove us from the equation and direct our steps. 

Hosea 4:6 disturbs me. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” That sends chills down my spine.

I am often amazed at the lack of knowledge within the Body of Christ. Knowledge leads to understanding. Understanding leads to wisdom. Wisdom is the right use of knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 16:16 “How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.”

Yet, it is far too often that I see the church, the Body of Christ, chasing after the gold and silver! Scripture taken out of context seems to be the norm. And when it is pointed out, the correction is rejected in the same manner that knowledge is rejected! Much like the Pharisees rejected Christ, with vigorous hostility!

The objective truth of Scripture written with objective intent and in objective context cannot be made subjective to conform to man’s ideology, rhetoric, or agenda! May it never be! But it is.

The purpose of this undertaking is to present biblical knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to the Body of Christ in the fullness of its entirety with love and compassion without compromise. In other words, I’ll tell you the truth, even if it’s not what you want to hear. Will it be controversial? Maybe. But the intent is to send you into the pages of your Bible to find the truth for yourself. Who knows? Maybe I’ll tell you a lie to inflame your passion to prove me wrong. No, I won’t do that.
